FuMaTalk|Interview with Mr.Wang Qijun,Secretary General of Guangdong Die & Mould Industry Association

Q:Guangdong is the central of Die & Mould manufacturing, what’s the market trend of recent years?

A:Guangdong mould industry enterprises are located in the province’s villages, towns, cities and villages, Guangdong’s mould industry enterprises accounted for more than half of the country. Its development is benefited from the reform and opening up, but also the investment of Taiwan and Hong Kong compatriots and Chinese Chiu Chow businessmen. In order to encourage the development of the mould industry, the state has implemented the “VAT Refund Policy” for 17 years, which plays a huge and irreplaceable role for the mold enterprises in the country, especially in Guangdong Province. Guangdong’s mold industry for Guangdong Province and the Pearl River Delta region of communications, household appliances and automobile manufacturing industry, playing a supporting role, with a leading position in the country. Guangdong Province is a major province of mould industry, its influence in the country and even the world is pivotal.

The high point of the development of the mould industry in the province came after joining the WTO and becoming a permanent most favoured nation in the United States. With the development of educational reform and the stimulation of economic system reform, the trend to dominate the upper hand has continued unabated with the various types of enterprises producing moulds in the province, in blowing and stretching, stamping and die-casting, plastic moulding and tire mould manufacturers. In terms of trends, the potential continues to increase as robotics and intelligent manufacturing systems continue to improve and the trend is towards greater openness to foreign countries.

It is an indisputable fact that the mould industry in Guangdong Province has great potential for the development of complementary relationships with the European market, especially the German market. The greatest similarity between the two sides is that there are only a handful of well-known companies, while small and medium-sized enterprises are scattered all over the cities and villages. Of course, we do not deny that there are still significant gaps between us and Germany in terms of basic theoretical research, technological innovation and technological reserves, and that there is much room for improvement. This is why the cooperation between the two countries in this field is becoming stronger and stronger.

Q:FuMaTech & IRACE integrated in DMP will focus on new manufacturing technologies and solutions. Do you think the new project will bring your members new ideas on future development? Or will that help with the transformation of Die & Mould manufacturing?

A:A comprehensive upgrade of the manufacturing industry cannot be achieved without an improved and enhanced international trade environment. In recent years, due to the epidemic, the war between Russia and Ukraine, and even more so because of the trade friction between China and the United States, which has caused a serious gap between the two countries, the mutual cooperation between our two countries has been affected to varying degrees. The Guangdong Mould & Die Industry Association strongly believes that, in the spirit of mutually beneficial relations continue to deepen, we and the relevant industrial enterprises from developed countries, especially Germany, have unlimited potential. We sincerely hope that through the cooperation and exchange with Stuttgart (German pavilion), we can further improve the development of enterprises from both countries and achieve greater success.
