FuMaTalk | Interview with Mr. Daniel Yoo, Chief Representative of VDMA Shanghai

Q: Mr. Yoo, what is your relationship towards CRIA and how did the initial cooperation for IRACE start?
A: In 2020 we started our cooperation with our long-term partner CRIA for the project IRACE in Shenzhen.
CRIA is the initiator. Their vision is to build a major and leading trade show platform for the robotics and automation industry in the Greater Bay Area. Since we have a deep relationship for many years CRIA approached us. Almost simultaneously VDMA Robotics + Automation was also looking into the potential of the Greater Bay Area for this important industrial sector. Ultimately, we decided to team up. CRIA has a strong network among local but also international companies and organizations in China. VDMA R+A has a strong membership and network in this sector. We are combining both our strengths and hopefully are going to be able to build a strong trade show in South China.

Q: What is the role and goal of VDMA at FuMaTech & IRACE?
A: Our role is to be an official partner of FuMaTech. VDMA is the largest industrial association from Europe. We represent over 3500 corporate members. The Robotics + Automation section of VDMA is represented in China through our Shanghai office for over a decade already. With our VDMA Shanghai office it is our duty to be the voice of European Robotics + Automation companies in China. We are creating new platforms of trade, communication and exchange for our members. We want to enhance and develop new chances for business in the Greater Bay Area. Cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan and Foshan are on the rise. A lot of important industrial clusters are developing in the area. Important customer industries for our members are located in the area like electronics, new energy production technologies and automotive industry.

Q: What do you think are the main benefits for VDMA members to participate in FuMaTech & IRACE and what are the main highlights of the show?
A: Our member companies will be able to rely on a strong partnership network this year. Together with Messe Nanjing-Stuttgart and Paper Communication, we can provide professional organizational support to our members. Our sister association, VDW  will also bring its strong industrial expertise to the table. As a German company, you can apply for a booth in the official “German Pavilion” at FuMaTech & IRACE. Messe Stuttgart will also organize a European Pavilion with an attractive price scheme. Together with our partners we are organizing several high level B2B conferences. Our member companies will have the opportunity to participate as active speakers or panelists during the conferences to present their latest technologies. Through our partners we are going to bring a professional audience from relevant customer industries to the events. We are really excited to be part of this project and glad to support our community.
